How can you find an wireless internet connection on a windows XP?

The strange thing is, my wireless worked perfectly on my desktop before, but then one day it just stopped.

I searched on help and support, it tells me to go to Network and Connections thing in control panel and to click on the "View available wireless networks" task. Sounds sensible, so I go and look, but when I do there is no such task.

So is there another way I can search for my wireless connection? This is getting pretty weird.

many times this happens after the tuesday windows updates "fixes" your network drivers. first yo u ahve to get into the hardware manager adn make sure the device is working properly and if it’s ‘on’, etc. maybe even re-install the drivers from the manufacturer and make surw windows doesnt’ do ti again. i never use the windows update for audio, video or NIC drivers…

Can one merge Verizon Wireless plans? (More details in question)?

Hi guys,
currently, we have a SINGLE Verizon wireless plan and a separate FAMILY plan. The family plan has 3 lines on it, but we would like to merge the other single plan with the family one. This way, one single plan comes with unlimited Data and phone calls. The other issue is, currently, we’re on a plan that does not have unlimited data- but we want it. Will we have to pay any cancellation fees (even though we’re not switching providers)?
Thanks for any help up front.

Swiching it to another acct isnt canceling it, so there would be no fee. Its called an "Assumption of Liability". Its easily done. And when you move the single line to the family plan you can alter just that line if you want or all the lines as the whole family. I would call customer service since what you are wanting to do needs a little better communication than this.

How do I get wireless connection on a Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop after windows 7 upgrade?

I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7. When I try to connect to my university’s wireless network it will show available connections but will not connect. I can get a wired connection but not a wireless one. Please help.

Mike,

First check your drivers & make sure these are all up to date! Follow these instructions for connecting to the internet using wireless: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Connect-to-the-Internet.

If you are still experiencing problems, follow these steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Why-can-t-I-connect-to-the-Internet.

How do you set up a wireless connection to a PS3 using Comcast?

I need to know how to put a wireless connection on a PS3 successfully. Step by step, please.

I have Comcast as well, and in order to connect I had to open the ports on my router using some port codes you can obtain from Sony by calling them. This may help if the connection fails (which it did for me).

Netgear Rangemax NEXT Wireless Router WNDR3300-100ISS vs WNDR3300-100UKS ?

There are two of the same wireless router listed on amazon. First one is the rangemax WNDR3300-100ISS which is listed at £74.00, excuse the links –

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-WNDR3300-100ISS-RangeMax-Wireless-Router/dp/B0012FD2TI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1228075538&sr=8-4

then there is the WNDR3300-100UKS version which is listed at £94.94!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-Rangemax-NEXT-Wireless-Router/dp/B0018OIN4C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1228075538&sr=8-2

Does anyone know that differences between the two and more importantly how does the UKS version justify the higher price?

That’s a good question, especially since Netgear’s own site doesn’t even mention the 100ISS vs. UKS designations!
http://netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/RangeMaxWirelessNRoutersandGateways/WNDR3300.aspx

A clue, however, is provided in the Extended Specs at the UKS Amazon llink. It reads "Localisation: English / United Kingdom." The 802.11 specs divide the 2.4-GHz band into 13 channels. In the US and Canada, only the first 11 are permitted. In the UK and Europe, all 13 are permitted. You can read more about this at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11#Channels_and_international_compatibility

So my best guess is that the less expensive version is a US/Canada model, restricted to 11 channels, whereas the more expensive one (which is now £88.07, BTW) provides all 13.

How do I get a wireless internet connection?

After successfully having restored my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A30) back to factory default, I checked the internet connection but it wasn’t working.

I used to just be able to choose a network to connect to. (Wireless LAN)
But there seems to be no wireless connection thing on the laptop like it was before.
There is something called ‘ConfigFree’ installed, but I’m not sure what this is.

Can anyone help?

You will need to reinstall your wireless drivers after a restore, possibly that’s why you don’t have a wireless connection.

Goto Toshibas site:

http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK&mode=allMachines&action=search&teddProduct=518&selShortMod=358

Then scroll down to the bottom and you’ll find wireless drivers for your Laptop.

There are 2 for Windows XP, so if one doesn’t work then the other one should.

Hope this helps :)

How do you get wireless internet connection on the Dell Inspiron mini netbook?

The network that I’m already signed up with is At&T and they provide internet access for my desktop. However, it is not wireless. Right now, I have no wireless connection if I were to just use my netbook. In addition, what is a router and a modem? Please help!

If you are with at&t they can provide a wireless router and setup as part of the monthly billing
